An untranslatable Portuguese word which describes a longing or 'homesickness' for what may never be reconciled or revisited---this seems an accurate description of Saudade's compositions. Their work is grounded in the idea of impermanence as remembered by sustained floating voices, remnants of an unreachable past. Convergent from Vermont and California, the collaboration ensued while working in the trenches of a psychiatric residential treatment facility---the veracity of this circumstance and the concept of nostalgic, emotional resonance drove their theory as the soundscapes accumulated spontaneously, lucid and aware.
